The Ensnared Horizon, by scar3crow A moderately linear single player level for Quake, featuring too many themes, and a lot of non-mandatory areas. You only need to see part of the map to reach the exit. Extra Special Thanks to ionous for the Origins Jam which this started out as an entry for. INSTALLATION Extract into the \id1\maps of your Quake install. In game, specify your difficulty settings in start or with the skill command in console of 0, 1, or 2. Start the map with "map scar3sp01" in the console. Note that this map has only been tested with Quakespasm and a stock install of Quake. It has not been tested with any mods, or other engines. The map relies on opaque water and the original Quake skies. Please do not overwrite the standard sky with a skybox. STORY The undulating round ligaments of Shub-Niggurath thrashed outside of time and filling all of space as the labor pains issued forth with each contraction, a hellish cervical mucus of perverted birth, wringing writhing monstrosities of both form and structure from the sunless skin folds and fleshy protuberances. Malconstructed, overlapping in strained attempts at dominance, not even the sky was resolved into an orthogonal fashion. Concrete, stone, rock, ebony, rust, and grime contended with stained glass and sconces. A birth within a birth, an afterbirth within an afterbirth. Caged in her labor, held hostage by a sky imprisoned, you must free it in order to free yourself.
